features eight serviced sites as well as unserviced
sites with modern washrooms and showers, RV dump
station, picnic tables, barbecue pits and a tourist
information booth on site. |

Golfing
A
nine hole course just off Highway #6 on the outskirts
of Ashern. Grass green, golf cart and club rentals
are available with miniature golf, licensed restaurant
and VLT's. Night golf has become a favourite attraction
to many. Men's, women's and junior golf tournaments
are held throughout the season. |
Hunters
Paradise
Many
species of game birds such as geese, ducks and sharptail
grouse are hunted, along with deer, elk, moose and
bear. Local guides and outfitters are available as
needed. Just a short distance east of Ashern opens
a vast wilderness to explore. Hunting liscenses can
be obtained at the natural resources office in Ashern

Beaces

Oak Bay Lodge, Lake Manitoba Narrows and Silver Bay
are situated on Lake Manitoba. With beautiful sandy
beaches, clear blue water and numerous sand bars these
locations make excellent swimming spots for children. |

Trade Fest
This
spring showcase highlights local business and gives
an opportunity to see the many products and services
available in the area. Other featured attractions
include a petting zoo, children's corner, local entertainment,
demonstrations and displays. |
Family
Fishing Derby
This
fun filled day in June is open for children of all
ages with prizes being awarded for the biggest fish.
Lake Manitoba offers visitors year-round fishing and
is located minutes from Ashern. More information about

Horse Show
This
event draws participants to Ashern each July from
all over. This one day event is for both children
and adults. Some classes include: Leadline, Novelty,
English, Pleasure, Showmanship, Western Pleasure,
Reining, Flag Race, Poles and Keyhole. The Ashern
horse Show is part of The North Interlake Show Circuit. |

Ashern
Rodeo
The
September Labour Day weekend starts off with a childrens
street dance, street painting and fireworks display
Friday night. Saturday morning you can fill up with
pancakes and coffee sponsored by the Ashern Chamber
of Commerce.
The
rodeo itself is a two day event with classes including:
Bull riding, bareback, calf roping, steer wrestling,
sadle bronc, junior steer and ladies barrels. There
is also mutton busting and a chicken scramble for
kids. Cowboys and cowgirls from across Canada and
the United States come to participate in this event.
A midway and concessions are also on site.
A
country dance is held on Saturday night. |
Ashern
Auction Mart
The Interlake Cattleman's Co-op oporates a major auction
mart in Ashern which attracts buyers from western
Canada and the United States. 55,000 cattle are sold
through this auction mart each year. Viewing galleries
allow visitors to see and hear the auction in the
ring every Wednesday. |
Thresherman's
Reunion
Come and watch the past techniques of threshing grains
and enjoy the old time atmosphere and acvtivities
for young and old ones alike. Log cutting, bread and
pie making contests, petting zoo, childrens games
and activities as well as local entertainment adds
to the flavour of this September afternoon. |
Pioneer
Museum
The Ashern Museum is located on the south end of Town
just off Highway #6. It features six restored buildings
from Ashern's past. The old CNR station, St Micheal's
Anglican Church, the Hoffman Log House, Post Office
and Ashern's first Rural Municipality of Siglunes
Office and the Darwin School House. The Museum is
open in the summer months and tours can be arranged
in the off season. |
Winter
Carnival
Come out and join the whole town in the activities.
each March the Ashern Figure Skating Club puts on
an ice show featuring children from the local club
as well as guest skaters from other areas. A curling
bonspiel and contests for the whole family provide
a winter wonderland atmosphere. |
